Handbook of Yoga for Modern Living
Published in Paperback by Warner Books (February, 1978)
Author: Eugene Rawls
Average review score:

Handbook of Yoga for Modern Living
Twenty years ago I worked two jobs at barely more than minimum wage to keep a roof over my head. I had no social life, I was stressed out, anxious and depressed. I came accross Handbook of Yoga for Modern Living by Eugene Rawls in a department store where I worked. It offered a safe, effective way to deal with stress, so I bought the book. To put it mildly, it exheeded my expectations. The instructions were clear and simple. I followed them. In the weeks and months that followed, I felt the pain and tension in my muscles dissapperar; I gained a flexability and peace of mind I had never known before. In the two decades that followed, when I lived according to the principles of this book, I have enjoyed life. When I deviated from these principles, I sank into distress and mysery. I can not recommend this book more highly. It deserves to be back in print.

Harrison's is essential
I have used Harrisons since the eighties. I am a Clinical Psychologist dealing with patients who often have multiple medical problems. Harrison's is a complete solution to getting up to the date medical information, not only the book and CD but also the Website. It is expensive, but if you only ever buy one medical text, this has to be the one.

Hellenistic Commentary to the New Testament
Published in Hardcover by Abingdon Press (November, 1995)
Authors: M. Eugene Boring, Klaus Berger, Carsten Colpe, and M. Eugene
Average review score:

At last!
Although presented as a "commentary", we have here a book that can be used as a comparative study between the N.T. texts and Hellenistic texts, most of which predate the N.T.

Now, this might be of use if one believes that the authors of the different N.T. texts used some kind of "worldly" inspiration. The similarities are, nevermind what your beliefs are, stricking!

Often the Hellenistic teksts supplies the reader with an comprehensive interpretation of many a specific obscure passage.

All in all a very usefull tool no matter which "school" you belong to.

Average review score:

In depth book of on the subject of heraldry.
I have the original 1895 first edition of the book. The author covers all aspects of heraldry, including origin and development of heraldry, with many full color plates and illustrations of Colonial Armory, seals and crests. This is a must reference work to have.

The Hermit
Published in Paperback by Henry Holt & Company (01 September, 1980)
Authors: Eugene Ionesco and Richard Seaver
Average review score:

And what would YOU do if you inherited a million dollars?
This book is an interesting existential analysis of the human condition as seen through the eyes of a former office clerk who, after inheriting a large sum, decides to leave his job. From then on, he alternately exists experientially and through hallucination. He views the rush of the individual through the world in moments both intimate and clear followed by gigantic, historical events that pass in a blur. I found it to be a complex work of great style and vision. That sounds like a real cop-out but he really does make a fine set of statements in a vivid, yet surreal way. A good read but you gots to pay attention.

Hiking Guide to Mount Washington and the Presidential Range
Published in Paperback by Appalachian Mountain Club Books (May, 1992)
Authors: Eugene Danielle, Eugene S. Daniell, Appalachian Mountain Club, and Jon Burroughs
Average review score:

One of the best guides around
This book is excellent for anyone who likes to hike in new hampshire, but likes to stick to the presidentials. It's informative, compact and an essentail edition to any hikers pack. It comes with a map of the range, too. Now is a great time to buy because the AMC maps have just been given a make-over. They are now full colorized and eaiser to read. A very cool feature with the map is that it has an iset of Mount Washington from the hermit lake shelter to the summit. All in all, a wonderful book.

A must for the history buff!
A great resource for the researcher of early California, the Gold Rush, geography and history of each county. Richly detailed and illustrated accounts of the people and places which make California unique. The authors provide details of history which make the lives of the early settlers understandable and interesting.

A Historical Survey of the Old Testament
Published in Paperback by Baker Book House (December, 1992)
Author: Eugene H. Merrill
Average review score:

Outstanding Book
I had to read this book as a text for O.T. Survey, a class I took while in Bible College. Mr. Merill wrote a wonderful book that does not confuse Bible students nor casts doubt on the certainty of the validity of the O.T. Scriptures. Great infromation and well documented. I also like his charts and foot notes.

A History of Interest Rates
Published in Paperback by Rutgers University Press (April, 1996)
Authors: Sidney Homer, Richard Eugene Sylla, and Henry Kaufman
Average review score:

One of the ten books every speculator should read.
Financial assets grow in value with the passage of time. For debt, we call this "interest", and for equity, we call it "yield". Homer's book is the superbly recorded history of this phenomenon. Perhaps its greatest value is that when you hear or read a new theory, you can assess its validity by comparing the theory's implications with the historical evidence.
